Spicy Nuts with Bacon

What you need

  • 250g pack of bacon rashers (diced) 
  • 1 cup raw hazelnuts 
  • 1 cup raw cashews 
  • 1 cup raw almonds 
  • 1 cup pecan nuts 
  • ½ – 1 tsp cumin powder
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (or more if you like it spicy)
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg 
  • A few cracks of himalayan salt 
  • 3 tsp unsalted butter 

Let's cook

  1. Preheat the oven to 160º C 
  2. Cook bacon either in a pan on the stove or in the oven on a tray 
  3. Remove bacon from the fat and set aside 
  4. Toast nuts in a large dry pan until golden 
  5. Add in bacon fat and butter and cook until the nuts darken 
  6. Add in spices and fry until fragrant 
  7. Add about 1 tsp of water along with the bacon and mix 
  8. Pour the nut mixture into an oven tray, and toast in the oven for about 5-7 minutes 
  9. Leave to cool for 20 minutes
  10. Store in an airtight container and enjoy!
