Spicy Nuts with Bacon
What you need
250g pack of bacon rashers (diced)
1 cup raw hazelnuts
1 cup raw cashews
1 cup raw almonds
1 cup pecan nuts
½ – 1 tsp cumin powder
¼ tsp cayenne pepper (or more if you like it spicy)
¼ tsp ground nutmeg
A few cracks of himalayan salt
3 tsp unsalted butter
Let's cook
Preheat the oven to 160º C
Cook bacon either in a pan on the stove or in the oven on a tray
Remove bacon from the fat and set aside
Toast nuts in a large dry pan until golden
Add in bacon fat and butter and cook until the nuts darken
Add in spices and fry until fragrant
Add about 1 tsp of water along with the bacon and mix
Pour the nut mixture into an oven tray, and toast in the oven for about 5-7 minutes
Leave to cool for 20 minutes
Store in an airtight container and enjoy!
