It is known for its bright yellow colour, and has recently been deemed a ‘superfood’ owing to its array of health benefits. This flavourful spice gets its vibrant colour from curcumin, the active compound in the spice that is responsible for its potent anti-inflammatory properties that are said to rival ibuprofen, without the side effects! Turmeric has also been shown to inhibit fungal growth and suppress tumour cell growth.
