About the Active Ingredient(s):
Retinol (Vitamin A):
Vitamin A is considered the ‘holy grail’ of ingredients in skincare for anti-ageing, acne clearing and dark spot fading. Unlike other forms of vitamin A, Retinol is a topical form that is available over-the-counter.
Vitamin A derivatives are able to reduce collagen breakdown while boosting the quality and frequency of collagen production in our skin. This increased skin cell turnover encourages new cell growth, that is rich in collagen – firmer, tighter and smoother skin. The new skin cells also help to even skin tone and reduce the appearance of dark spots caused by sun exposure and acne scarring. Retinol is able to unclogs pores, while inhibiting the over production of sebum in skin pores therefore assisting in reduced acne breakouts.
When it comes to retinol, it is important to remember two things. Firstly, patience is key. Build up your skin tolerance slowly as it can take 3 – 6 months of consistent use before improvements are apparent. Secondly, Vitamin A (regardless of the derivative form and application) increases skin sensitivity and in particular sun sensitivity. Always use sunscreen when incorporating this product into your regime.

Important to note: Do not use in conjunction with other retinoid treatments. Retinoids can make the skin more sensitive to UV radiation. Always ensure that you make use of sun protection while incorporating retinoids into your skincare regime.
Acne prone skin may experience an increase in acne during the first few weeks of application. This is known as ‘purging’ and should clear with time.
