About the Active Ingredient(s):
Hyaluronic Acid:
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar molecule found in our connective tissue and throughout our bodies. It is able to hold up to 1000 times its weight in water, and is responsible for joining collagen and water molecules together to keep the skin hydrated – giving it its plump, glowing complexion.
As we age, our natural collagen production decreases, but so too does its levels of hyaluronic acid. Additionally, external factors such as air pollution, sun exposure and poor dietary choices further contribute to their decrease.
The decreased level of hyaluronic acid in the skin leads to skin dehydration, resulting in dull looking skin that is less plump, with increased signs of wrinkles and fine lines. Beyond this, dehydrated skin means that the skin barrier is compromised, which can lead to conditions such as atopic dermatitis, rosacea and acne.
When applied topically, hyaluronic acid penetrates the skin easily and is able to quickly boost depleted stores. Due to its unbelievable ability to draw in and retain moisture, it attracts water molecules to increase the overall moisture content of the skin, rehydrating it and providing it with a dewy, plump glow. It is great for all skin types, and is generally deemed a non-irritant ingredient that can even be applied under the eyes.

Pure Hydrolysed Collagen:
Collagen is one of the most abundant proteins in the human body and a major component of our skin, providing it with its structural framework. As we age our natural collagen production decreases, and in the skin, this leads to signs of premature ageing – wrinkles, fine lines and sagging skin.
When taking collagen orally as many of our customers do, the collagen does a wonderful job of plumping up and reviving the dermis (our middle layer of skin) but the collagen is not able to pass through to the stratum-corneum (our outer most layer of skin), which needs extra protection from our harsh environment. Our topical Collagen Moisturiser and Serum now do just that.
Collagen molecules are too large to be absorbed by the skin. However, these molecules still play an extremely important role in the skins’ protection. Collagen molecules are highly hygroscopic, meaning they have tremendous water binding capacity making them an amazing humectant and moisturiser. The molecules are able to form a moisture-rich film that is wonderful for the upper skin layer (the stratum-corneum). This film allows for instant hydration and gives the skin a smooth feel, while reducing epidermal-water loss, which is when water evaporates out of the uppermost layer of the skin. Not only does it moisturise the skin, but it has inherent radical-capturing properties and thus is an effective antioxidant. It also improves the barrier function of the skin and preserves a neutral skin pH.
By combining hyaluronic acid with collagen, we are able to reap the benefits of both of these active ingredients. Collagen provides a nutrient and moisture rich layer on the outer most skin layer, while hyaluronic acid is able to transport this into the deeper layers of the skin.
You now have the ability to protect your skin from both the inside and the outside, with this wonderful collagen serum!

Rosehip Oil:
Full of Vitamin C and a source of antioxidants, Rosehip Oil has been used for centuries for its medicinal properties. When it comes to topical application, rosehip oil is praised for its emollient characteristics. What this means, is that it is able to soften and soothe the skin. It’s naturally high in Vitamin C – said to rival that of citrus fruits – meaning it assists in protecting the skin cells from damage, most notably UVA and UVB rays and free-radicals, helping to reverse the signs of premature ageing. Rosehip oil naturally contains Vitamin A, which is considered as the holy grail of ingredients for ageing skin. The reason for this being that Vitamin A assists with inflammation, blackheads and promotes skin cell turn over – allowing new, healthy cells to form. When suffering from acne, hyperpigmentation, wrinkles and sun damage, this increased cell turnover is great for replacing old, damaged skin cells and allowing new, healthy cells to shine through. It is also a source of Vitamin F, which has wonderful moisturising properties, as well as a source of essential fatty acids to support overall skin health.
