Linseeds

250g
Linseeds come from the flax plant also known as Linum usitatissimum. They are high in fibre, protein, omega-3 fatty acid and several vitamins and minerals – most notably thiamine (B1), which is responsible for energy metabolism and overall cell function. Before linseeds became the omega and fibre superfood that we all know and love, the linseed plant was used predominantly to create textiles (linen) and rope, as its fibers are up to 3 times stronger than cotton. Some of the earliest dating of the use of linen is from Egypt for the use of mummy embalming. So, what’s the difference between linseeds and flaxseeds? There is no notable difference nutritionally between flaxseeds and linseeds. Their macronutrient levels are the same, however there is research surfacing to suggest that micronutrients may vary slightly. Currently it is a terminology difference used by the USA as opposed to the UK and European nations. This has spread across the world, and various countries have adopted their preferred distinction.
