Hazelnuts are a powerhouse nut that deliver quite a punch when it comes to nutrients. Not only are they a great source of beneficial fats, including oleic acid which is known to be found in olive oil, they also house a substantial amount of Vitamin E which is an antioxidant, and minerals such as magnesium, calcium and potassium. Studies have shown that hazelnuts are rich in B Vitamins, two of which – Thiamine (Vitamin B1) and Niacin (Vitamin B3) – are important for the release of energy from food as well as assist in keeping the nervous system healthy. In addition to this, Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) plays an important role in eye and skin health as well as Vitamin B6, which assists in the formation of hemoglobin, the substance in the blood that helps to transport oxygen.
