Together, they formulate a beauty-boosting blend of nutrients to facilitate the skin, and body, to naturally age with grace. Below we have provided a bit more information on each of the ingredients, to give you a better understanding of why they are included.

Our Sally-Ann Creed® Pure Hydrolysed Collagen is renowned for its many, extensive benefits. This Type 1 & Type 3 non-GMO, grass-fed collagen is made up of 19 amino acids and is distinctly known for having particularly high levels of the amino acids glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline. Its unique amino acid profile makes it a crucial factor in assisting with maintaining the structural integrity of connective tissue. Therefore it comes as no surprise that it is a major component of our skin. The more collagen one has, the firmer, plumper, more hydrated your skin. But what exactly is the function of collagen in the skin specifically? It provides a structural framework for the skin. It does this by helping skin cells adhere to one another, and in doing so provides strength and elasticity. It also assists with skin hydration due to collagen’s moisture absorption and retention properties.

Sulphur is the third most abundant mineral in the human body. MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) is a natural sulphur-containing compound that provides the body with essential sulphur and methyl groups that are used by the body during its healing and repair processes. This multi-functional mineral has also been shown to assist in reducing oxidative damage associated with ageing, while reducing inflammatory skin conditions such as rosacea, due to its natural anti-inflammatory properties. By donating sulphur to keratin, MSM may also assist in strengthening the bonds between keratin molecules, which in turn strengthens hair and nails as it is said that up to 95% of hair is made of keratin. In a 2019 study comprising 63 subjects, at 3g per day MSM supplementation proved to have a significant improvement in the condition of the subjects hair and nails over a 4 month period.

We chose sodium ascorbate for our Beauty Collagen blend as it is a buffered form of ascorbic acid that is gentler on the digestive tract and more bioavailable i.e. better absorbed by the body. Vitamin C is a natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory which is commonly known for its assistance in regulating the immune system, and preventing the onset of colds and viruses. As an antioxidant, it is able to assist in fighting free radicals that cause oxidative stress and cell damage that often presents itself in the form of premature ageing. In addition to this, it is a cofactor for two enzymes that are required for collagen synthesis, namely prolyl-hydroxylase, which helps to stabilise the collagen molecule, and lysyl-hydroxylaseIt assists with collagen formation in connective tissue such as skin, bone, cartilage, and blood vessels. All this makes vitamin C a powerhouse in cellular repair and  increase cell renewal, resulting in reduced signs of premature aging not just in the form of glowing skin, but also beneath the surface assisting with joint health and mobility too.

Medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) have become increasingly popular among athletes, and those living an active lifestyle. This popularity is due to MCTs ability to assist the body’s ability to burn fat while increasing energy levels. When digested, MCTs are absorbed straight from the gut, and move into the bloodstream, traveling directly to the liver – this is a much more efficient digestion process when compared to  long-chain triglycerides (LCTs), such as olive oil or avocados. Once in the liver, MCTs are converted into ketones, which are then distributed throughout the body as an instant source of energy.

Lastly, we have included our prebiotic fibre, MaxiPrebiotic (MaxiFOS). This prebiotic  is made from ground chicory root (inulin powder), which feeds your healthy gut bugs and allows for them to perform at their optimum, which in turn contributes to improved digestion, nutrient absorption, immunity and overall health.
