Gallstones Symptoms

People often ask me about gallstones. I wrote a very comprehensive blog post on it here https://sallyanncreed.co.za/blog/symptoms-and-causes-of-gallbla…/ telling you the symptoms, causes and treatment. But here’s another short post on it if you are someone who is interested in this. I do urge you to read the above blog post too.

Have you been feeling bloated and gassy for the past couple of months, especially after eating fried or other fatty foods? Do you suffer bouts of pain in the upper right side of your abdomen that lasts up to several hours? Symptoms like this MAY be caused by stones in the gallbladder. Over 16 million Americans (most of them women) have gallstones. For some, gallstones cause no symptoms at all, while in others, stones cause severe pain or require surgery.

Factors that invite gallstones to form include:

  • A family history of gallbladder disease
  • Obesity
  • Middle age
  • Being female
  • Pregnancy
  • Taking estrogen
  • Diabetes
  • Eating a high carbohydrate, sugar-laden diet

Diseases of the small intestine

Treatments for gallstones range from medications and laser treatments to dissolve the stones or surgery (to remove the gallbladder). A low-carbohydrate diet is the MOST successful treatment, NOT a low-fat diet!! That’s one of the causes believe it or not. But adding more FIBRE to the diet is quite effective in preventing these from forming.

The forms of fibre (apart from vegetable fibre) I highly recommend are:

However, without following a low-carb diet you are treading water. So either follow my 63 Days to Optimum Health book or The Low-Carb Creed book.

Again, I urge you to read the BLOG post where I go into more detail here

I have also done a post on LIFE WITHOUT A GALLBLADDER here https://sallyanncreed.co.za/life-without-a-gallbladder/ plus a post on HOW TO STOP GALLSTONES FORMING IN WEIGHT LOSS here https://sallyanncreed.co.za/gallstones-in-weight-loss/
