A herb from the Lamiaceae family, the same family as mint, oregano is a flavourful ingredient that is strongly featured in Mediterranean cuisine. It has been used for centuries in a variety of dishes but further to this, oregano has many medicinal properties. As a paste or oil extract, it is used on the skin to treat acne, athlete’s foot, warts and to promote wound healing. As an ingested ingredient, it has been shown to assist with respiratory health and asthma, heart conditions, diabetes, menstrual cramps and even rheumatoid arthritis.
