Many medications taken by people with HIV/Aids, such as protease inhibitors and non-nucleoside medications, are processed by liver enzymes. If Milk Thistle is taken in combination, it has the potential to raise the levels of these drugs, causing unpleasant or even dangerous side effects. Milk Thistle may mimic the effects of estrogen, and patients with fibroid tumors, endometriosis, breast, uterine or ovarian cancer should consult their healthcare provider before taking Milk Thistle.
