Sally-Ann Creed®’s Digest Ease has strong antioxidant and anticancer properties, offering relief from symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which consists of several debilitating, painful disorders that can lead to life-threatening complications. The unique recipe contains curcumin, digestive enzymes and a prebiotic and probiotic blend.
Curcumin is found in turmeric, and exhibits anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory properties, which reduce oxidative stress and suppresses inflammation. Significant improvements have been reported with inflammatory conditions such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, through improvements in pain and physical function. Additional benefits include: improved insulin sensitivity, reductions in elevated blood pressure and improvement of blood lipid profile. Curcumin has also shown beneficial results with muscle soreness after exercise, which results in decreased recovery time and has a potential anti-anxiety effect.
The combination of prebiotics and probiotics is referred to as symbiotics when ingested at the same time. Probiotics are living microorganisms that are beneficial to the gut when taken in adequate amounts as they assist with relieving diarrhoea, improving symptoms associated with lactose intolerance and reducing cholesterol levels. It may also assist with managing irritable bowel syndrome and exhibits a protective effect against H.pylori infection, which can induce peptic ulcers when used with antibiotics. Prebiotics (inulin) is a dietary fibre that promotes gut health, improves fat metabolism and increases calcium absorption. Fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) has the ability to decrease pathogenic bacteria found in the gut and also facilitates the absorption of magnesium.
Digestive enzymes are responsible for the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins and fats as well as being crucial in the absorption of nutrients.
